Objective
To provide & coordinate medical services, to ensure highest standards of patient care.
Principal Accountabilities :
Principal Accountabilities
(A) Strategic
• Implementation of hospital's /medical services vision & philosophy.
• Infection control, Health care waste management, awareness of patients rights & safety issues, relationship building.
• Supplement/take charge in case of the vertical is on leave/absent etc.
• Strategic inputs in her/his vertical & should forward recommendation for continuous improvement in the vertical.
(B) Operational
• To provide the best possible prompt medical care to all patients.
• To give overall direction to the smooth running of the department so that the entire subordinate staff-medical as well as non-medical feel satisfied.
• To ensure that there is adequate growth opportunities for all the subordinate staff.
• To coordinate all the references with other specialists if desired.
• To be responsible for delegating responsibilities according to the capabilities of the subordinate staff.
• To be responsible for ensuring that adequate care is taken to provide constant coverage for the departmental services.
• To make duty rosters for the subordinate staff and ensure their compliance.
• Collective rounds with the subordinates & to ensure all preventive & corrective measures to maintain the highest standards of patient care & service delivery.
• Should facilitate all audits in the concerned areas & answer all their queries.
• To ensure SOP’s of the Medical Services be implemented.
• To adhere to duty roster & to take prior permission of Functional & administrative heads in case of any mutual arrangements / leaves etc.
• To participate in the in service education programmes.
• To train staff in the concerned areas to ensure the service excellence programme.
• To ensure adequate record keeping in the concerned areas.
• To participate in periodic staff reviews to assess effectiveness of the particular areas.
• Ensure proper functioning of all the equipment and instruments and coordinates with engineering/biomedical /appropriate department for malfunctioning/repair/replacement /loss/theft/indents.
• Ensure maintenance and disposal of records and documents as per the quality standards
• Initiate inputs to functional & administrative heads to different support clinical committees as and when required.
• To ensure all the records are maintained in the ward.
• To ensure reporting of Deaths/ LAMA’s or any other eventuality & their follow ups.
• To ensure all the Medico Legal cases are adequately handled.
• To ensure all the patients of notifiable diseases are addressed to the competent authorities.
• Liasioning with other deptts for achieving service excellence.
Performance Parameters
• Quality and timeliness of the service delivery of the patients.
• Thorough history taking & Medical Records keeping.
• To participate in quality audits in the concerned areas & to ensure preventive & corrective actions.
• To ensure error free Medical care in all allocated areas.
• To participate in the on going education.
• To maintain highest standards in infection control & waste management.
• To ensure all the emergency medicines are available & the equipments are in the working condition.
• To train all the subordinate staff for best practices to ensure implementation of service excellence programme.
• Handling of grievances of patients & the internal staff.
• To participate in the performance management system of the all reporting subordinates
• Prompt grievance/complaint handlings.
Education
A recognized postgraduate diploma/degree from Medical Council of India. Must be registered with State/Medical Council of India.
Experience
A Minimum of 6-7 years of relevant experience in the concerned specialty in a Super/Multi Specialty hospital
Knowledge
• Quick Thinking, Fast Moving, and have wide spectrum of knowledge.
• Strong communication skills.
• Conceptual and Analytical skills.
• Computer literacy and hands on PC.
