Objective
Perform a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks to assist Physicians in performing imaging procedures / Maintains Inventory / Duty Roster
Principal Accountabilities :
Strategic
Be able to exercise personal responsibility and make decision in complex and unpredictable circumstances.
Be actively involved in departmental Audit and Quality Assurance to maintain effective Clinical Governance.
Delegate appropriate tasks and supervise Radiographic Technologist and Nursing & Medical Transcriptionist to achieve the desired quality of patient care.
Comply and contribute to the implementation of departmental and professional polices and procedures such as:
Health +Safety including risk assessment
Radiation Protection Procedures
Ionization Radiation (Medical Exposures) Regulations
Quality Assurance Program
Clinical Effectiveness
Inventory Control & Cost Containment
Operational
Assist Radiologists, operate the equipment and perform various complex procedures like MRI, CT etc.
Maintenance and upkeep of all related equipment of the department used to radiology, ultrasound, CT scan, MRI and Fluoroscopy.
Assist consultants in carrying out various imaging procedures including image guided biopsies, drainage, spinal injections.
Ensure consent form is filled and explained to the patient by the doctor.
Ensure administration of radiation in a safe and prescribed manner.
Maintain effective communication and ensure that patient is properly informed and prepared for the tests and procedures.
To ensure minimal wastage of films and repeat examinations, include safety of hazardous materials.
To ensure adequate stocks of materials are maintained in the department.
To observe and respect the privacy and confidentially of patients, visitors and physicians.
Train and educate subordinates on working of all equipment of the department.
Take active part in departmental quality initiatives.
To attend to emergencies during and after working hours.
Performance Parameters
- Repeatedly ensure high quality films and procedures.
- Timely delivery of report.
- Low repeat of films / procedures.
- Ensures minimum downtime of all equipments in the imaging department.
Education
Essential: 10+2 (Science), Diploma/ Degree in X-ray Technology from a recognized institution.
Preferable:
Industry Preference: Hospital or Healthcare
Experience
9 yrs experience as a fully qualified Radiology Technologist with atleast 5 yrs experience in a high volume Institute.
