Objective
To provide & coordinate medical services, to ensure highest standards of patient care.
Principal Accountabilities :
• Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic:
• Execute the hospital's/medical services vision and philosophy.
• Oversee infection control, healthcare waste management, patient rights awareness, safety protocols, and foster relationships.
• Assume responsibility in the absence of the department head.
• Provide strategic insights for vertical enhancement and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
Operational:
• Deliver prompt medical care to all patients.
• Conduct rounds to monitor patient status.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments and maintain detailed records.
• Document patient progress and future treatment plans in consultation with admitting consultants.
• Collaborate with consultants for follow-up treatments and specialist referrals.
• Ensure timely completion and interpretation of investigations, informing relevant consultants, and implementing necessary treatment adjustments.
• Handover duties to relieving staff and oversee patient dietary and medication requirements.
• Counsel discharged patients, provide discharge summaries, and maintain records.
• Communicate and enforce instructions, ensuring compliance among staff.
• Conduct collective rounds with team members to uphold patient care standards.
• Facilitate audits and manage inventory effectively.
• Implement and enforce SOPs in medical services.
• Support functional and administrative heads in daily operations.
• Adhere to duty roster and seek prior approval for leave arrangements.
• Participate in in-service education and staff training.
• Maintain accurate record-keeping and comply with JCI and NABH standards.
• Contribute to staff reviews and provide input for improvement.
• Ensure proper functioning of equipment and coordinate repairs as needed.
• Maintain and dispose of records in compliance with quality standards.
• Provide input to support clinical committees as required.
• Maintain ward records and report any critical incidents promptly.
• Handle medico-legal cases and notify authorities of notifiable diseases.
• Liaise with other departments to enhance service delivery.
Performance Parameters
- Quality and timeliness of the service delivery of the patients.
- Thorough history taking & Medical Records keeping.
- To participate in quality audits in the concerned areas & to ensure preventive & corrective actions.
- To ensure error free Medical care in all allocated areas.
- To participate in the CMEs.
- To maintain highest standards in infection control & waste management.
- To ensure all the emergency medicines are available & the equipments are in the working condition.
- To train all the subordinate staff for best practices to ensure implementation of service excellence programme.
- Handling of grievances of patients & the internal staff.
- To participate in the performance management system of the all reporting subordinates.
- Prompt grievance/complaint handlings.
Education
MBBS from a medical college recognized by Medical Council of India. Must be registered with State/Medical Council of India.
Experience
A Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in the concerned specialty in a Super/Multi Specialty hospital is desirable.
Knowledge
Quick Thinking, Fast Moving, generalist and have wide spectrum of knowledge.
Strong communication skills.
Conceptual and Analytical skills.
Computer literacy and hands on PC.
